What We Offer
We’re a small, family-run business – with a cosy vibe. Think of us like a country-house hotel. We’re really proud of the service that we offer our residents. However, we appreciate that we won’t be the best choice for everybody.
After all, everyone considering care will have different needs.
For some people, having a vast assortment of facilities to entertain them will be important. For others, a quiet, homely feel will be more what they’re after.
And beyond personal preference, medical needs must of course factor into your choice.
A home may appear to offer the perfect environment. But care needs can differ greatly. It is important to match your requirements to the best type of home for you.
We can talk you through this to help you choose.
Our Guide to Choosing a Care Home
Step One
First, think hard about what you would like from your care home.
Would you or your loved one thrive better in a small or large environment ?
At Cedar Lodge, we are a nineteen bed home. Our care setting is therefore smaller, more intimate, compared to our big-chain rivals.
Step Two
Reflect on your care needs.
Are you becoming forgetful? Leaving the pan on or doors unlocked? Perhaps you’ve been diagnosed with Dementia, Alzheimers or Parkinsons? Deep down, you’ll probably have a good idea already of where you might need help.
And if you have a fair idea of what level of care you need, this can steer you to the right sort of home.
At Cedar Lodge we care for a variety of residents. Some are fairly independent. They decided to come to Cedar Lodge so they can celebrate their retirement with a community of likeminded individuals.

Alongside these residents, we are also trained to cater to more complex medical needs. Our split between residents living with dementia and those who are not is roughly 50:50. Click here to read more about the dementia care we provide.
We would fall into what’s known in our business as a ‘low-dependency unit’, providing residential rather than nursing care. There are definite differences between the two.
Our Care Options page may help clarify what type of home is the best fit for you.
“Choosing a care home for your loved one has many challenges. Most of us use ‘first impressions’ and ‘a gut feeling’ to help us decide.
The team at Cedar Lodge have enthusiastically created an environment which resembles someone’s home.
Originally a Georgian house, Cedar Lodge has been carefully adapted to suit the needs of the residents. An overall feeling of safety, warmth, comfort and contentment exists the moment you step through the front door”.
