At Cedar Lodge Care Home Evesham
What is Day Care?
There are a whole host of reasons why people decide to make their home at Cedar Lodge.
For some people, it’s the reassurance that you’re in an environment where help is available 24 hours a day. Others like how a team of staff can take care of your cleaning, cooking and laundry, so you can enjoy a better quality of life. Whereas for others, the social company that care brings helps to combat loneliness.
But for whatever reason you’re considering care, we appreciate it’s a big step. It’s perfectly understandable that you’d like to test the waters before moving in full time.
That’s why we offer the opportunity to book day care. Day care is exactly as you would expect – you pop in at some point in the day (usually in the morning), stop by for a few hours to enjoy the company of other residents and the service of our staff, before leaving the care home in the evening.
Day care gives you the opportunity to experience what life is like at Cedar Lodge, at your own pace. To read more about day care at our care home, please read our FAQs below.

How do I apply for Day Care?
Our application for day care is similar to how you would enquire for a full-time room at Cedar Lodge. To begin with, we would ask that you contact us for a chat about the type of care you’re looking for, so we can assess whether we can meet your needs. We would then invite you to pop by to Cedar Lodge for a show round so you can meet us all. Our show rounds offer you the perfect opportunity to see if you like the home and if you would like to visit us more frequently. If you would like to come for day care, we would ask you to fill out a few forms to help tailor our service and then you can book in your day care by the week.
We typically reserve 1-2 slots for day care at any given time, so if we are oversubscribed at the time of your enquiry, please don’t be disheartened. As we can always put you on a waiting list until space comes available. Pending room availability, we also offer respite care for short breaks in our care home. These are bookable for a minimum stay of 1 week, with prices available on demand.
Do I have to book a minimum or maximum amount of hours?
Not at all. We aim to accommodate however much time that you’d like to spend with us. This could be as little as 1 hour a fortnight. Or it could be 9AM-5PM every day. The decision is yours and we are flexible if you would like to adjust the amount of day care you book over time. All we ask is that you book in with us at least one week in advance.
How much do we charge for Day Care?
We charge £15 per hour for day care. The price remains the same irrespective of your care needs. We aim to bill day care residents at the end of each month. Payments can be made by cheque or bank transfer.
What's included in our Day Care package?
If you come to our care home for day care, you will have access to many of the service features enjoyed by our full-time residents. These include:
- Personal care from our staff (such as offering you help when you go to the toilet or getting changed);
- Support getting in and out of seats, as well as offering you help when mobilising around our home;
- Reassurance and guidance if you become confused or upset;
- Lunch service, afternoon tea and supper service if you book day care during these meal times;
- Beverages and snacks as and when you please;
- Access to our communal spaces including the lounge, drawing room, and gardens – as well as the communal toilet and wash facilities;
- Use of our TV, stereo system, book and magazine collection;
- Participation in our daily exercise class and activities programme;
- Entertainment and trips out when scheduled.
We regret that we are unable to offer day care residents their own bedroom, like we do for full-time or respite service users who stay overnight. Nor can we include day care residents in the weekly health check-ins that are provided by our district nurses. However, we are a strong believer at Cedar Lodge that every individual’s care journey will be different. So as a first step, we encourage you to call us for a chat so we can mould your day care programme to fit you.
